Target Audience

The target audience for my product will be adults ranging from the age of 20 to 30 as the mature themes present throughout the title will not have the intended effect on younger or older audiences. It is also aimed at an adult audience due to the depiction of suicide which is unsuitable for minors. I also believe that an older audience will not receive the correct message due to a difference in mentality about how special or unique people should be.

I have also aimed at a middle or working class for the product as one of the main themes throughout is the hatred of doing repetitive work which is present for both classes as neither can quit their work for their ambition easily. The product may also be more suitable for the middle class as the main character’s occupation is a software engineer which may cause some classes to find him less relatable.

The product is not specifically aimed at either gender as the themes are very apparent in both genders although it may appeal more to a male audience due to the male lead and lack of female characters in the story. The product isn’t aimed at a specific sexuality either as there are no relationships in the story and very few displays of the main character’s sexuality which may alienate viewers.

My title is mainly aimed at a western audience (UK, USA, etc.) due to the English language spoken during the film which will alienate many countries but many eastern cultures would also find the story pointless due to the difference in cultures and mentalities between the different parts of the world. In western culture, it is encouraged to follow your dreams and ambitions no matter what, whereas countries such as China have the mentality of working to create a family and support the country instead of following ambitions.

The intended audience of my product will also be interested in dramatic television and films focusing on a few characters instead of a large scale story (The Hateful Eight, An Inspector Calls, Etc.). As the title is focused on the feelings of one character the audience would also be interested in books that focus on the mind of a character like Fight Club.The intended audience would be interested in other animation products such as Up! And Wall-E due to the similar themes and following of one main character through hardships.

My title could be shown at Cannes as an animated short or at the ARS Independent Festival as an animated short which could allow it to be exhibited to many people.
